Key Responsibilities :
1. Preoperative Assessment
- Conduct detailed pre-anesthetic evaluations including history, physical exams, and risk stratification.
- Optimize medical comorbidities and obtain informed consent for anesthesia.
- Participate in preoperative planning with surgical teams for complex cases.
2. Intraoperative Anesthesia Management
Administer general, regional, spinal, epidural, or monitored anesthesia care (MAC) based on procedure and patient profile.Monitor vital signs and maintain hemodynamic stability during surgery using modern anesthesia machines and monitors.Manage intraoperative emergencies and complications promptly.3. Postoperative Care
Ensure safe transfer of patients to PACU (post-anesthesia care unit) or ICU.Monitor post-anesthesia recovery, pain control, and manage postoperative nausea, vomiting, and complications.Provide consultative input for post-operative critical care if required.4. ICU and Emergency Support (if applicable)
Assist in critical care procedures such as airway management, intubation, and hemodynamic stabilization.Respond to code blue / emergency calls within the hospital.Support ICU and HDU teams in managing ventilated or unstable patients.5. Pain Management (if applicable)
Participate in acute and chronic pain management services.Perform nerve blocks, epidurals, or advanced techniques under ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance.6. Academic & Training (Optional / If Teaching Hospital)
Teach and mentor anesthesia residents, junior doctors, and interns.Attend and contribute to departmental CMEs, workshops, and clinical audits.Participate in ongoing clinical research and quality improvement programs.7. Compliance & Documentation
Maintain accurate and timely records : anesthesia notes, intraoperative charts, consent forms, and complication logs.Follow hospital protocols, infection control guidelines, and medico-legal documentation norms.Participate in internal audits, accreditation inspections (e.g., NABH, JCI), and departmental reviews.Qualifications & Experience :
Essential :MD / DNB in Anesthesiology from a recognized institutionRegistered with NMC / State Medical CouncilExperience :Attending Consultant : 1–3 years post-PG experienceAssociate Consultant : 3–5+ years post-PG experience in a multi-specialty surgical or critical care setupPreferred Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS; training in ultrasound-guided regional blocks is advantageous.Skills & Competencies :
