About our team

Cyber & Infrastructure Security | Critical Infrastructure Risk & Reg | Critical Infra Reg Ops & Analysis | Critical Infrastructure Security Compliance

The Critical Infrastructure Regulatory Operations and Analysis Branch is responsible for developing and operationalising the compliance framework and related activities for the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (SOCI Act) and the delivery of transport security regulatory operations for the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003 (MTOFSA) and the Aviation Transport Security Act 2004 (ATSA).

The Branch also provides the digital backbone for the CISC through data, systems, training, analytics and project delivery. This capability informs decision-making and risk assessment and provides an evidence base for CIPS policy areas.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Daily & Complex enquiries (preparing answers, including seeking legal advice as appropriate)
  • Exercise judgment and seek relevant information to resolve or refer issues and make logical and balanced decisions
  • Preparing meeting briefs and presentations including for high level meetings and corporate reports (monthly, quarterly and annual reports) and section Annual plans
  • Using different platform and information sources, conduct research and specific data analysis and conduct and plan Enforcement activities
  • Investigate non-compliance with legislation and regulations, by collecting and recording evidence that may be used in future enforcement activity
  • Plan and prioritise work whilst adapting a flexible approach to changing business
  • Enter and quality assure all relevant compliance and enforcement information into the regulatory management system.

    Knowledge of or the ability to learn the following application systems :

  • Regulatory Management System (RMS)
  • Relevant record management systems (TRIM)
  • Demonstrated understanding of procedural fairness, natural justice and review systems (i.e. Administrative Appeals Tribunal and Judicial Review).

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

    The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (AGSVA) security clearance, and :

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
  • In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
