Job Highlight:
WRI India is seeking a Program Associate for the Clean Air work housed in the Sustainable Cities & Transport Program in India. With their knowledge of municipal engagement, the Associate will support the 'Accelerator for Clean Air Actions' (ACAAS) initiative. ACAAS is a pan-India program that is supporting 10 cities and regions towards formulating sectoral solutions for achieving clean air.
Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh is one of the 10 cities. You will be supporting Nagar Nigam Gorakhpur in formulating and implementing solutions in the domain of open waste burning reduction. They will also be responsible for monitoring and impact evaluation of solutions, as well as engaging with critical stakeholders at the local level.
What you will do:
You will be based at Nagar Nigam Gorakhpur. They will coordinate remotely with WRI India's Clean Air team to oversee and execute the following broad range of activities:
- Study local context to prepare project / policy proposals.
- Coordinate closely with Nagar Nigam Gorakhpur's leadership on proposal formulation and implementation.
- Identify and engage with key stakeholders towards proposal uptake and implementation, as well as identifying new work opportunities.
- Collect local-level secondary data to support proposal preparation and implementation.
- Plan and execute primary surveys for baseline and impact assessment.
- Plan and execute implementation of proposals alongside Nagar Nigam Gorakhpur.
- Monitor implementation status and support course correction in alignment with program goals.
- Systematically document project progress and impacts for communication and outreach.
- Lead planning and conduct of local-level activities and events such as capacity building of stakeholders.
What you will need:
- A postgraduate degree from an eminent institution in the domain(s) of urban planning, environmental science or engineering, air quality, civil engineering, or any other relevant subject.
- At least 2–4 years of relevant, full-time work experience of supporting Urban Local Bodies in India on planning and execution of projects.
- Demonstrable experience of core project management skills such as report writing, impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, vendor management, logistical planning etc. is critical.
- Basic data assessment skills are desirable.
- Awareness / experience of solid waste management processes and solutions in Indian cities is highly desirable.
- General awareness of air quality / clean air scenario, challenges, and policy landscape is desirable.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Powerpoint, and Excel) is critical. Knowledge of GIS is desirable.
- Ability to work independently while in remote coordination with the larger team. Execution-oriented mindset is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills.

Potential Salary and Benefits: INR 9,50,000 to 12,50,000 Per Annum
