Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and well-connected Pan India Sales Manager – Modern Trade to drive nationwide sales and distribution for our FMCG Food Products.
The ideal candidate must have a proven track record in building and managing strong relationships with key MT chains (Dmart, Reliance Smart Bazaar, Nature's Basket, Star Bazaar, Metro etc.) , ensuring growth in revenue, visibility, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Modern Trade (MT) Sales & Business Development
- Develop and implement Pan-India MT sales strategy for FMCG Food products.
- Leverage strong connects with buying heads, category managers, and decision-makers across top MT chains.
- Drive listing, placement, and promotions with national and regional MT accounts.
- Ensure regular business reviews with key accounts and negotiate annual contracts, margins, schemes, and joint business plans (JBPs).
Revenue & Growth Targets
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales & revenue targets.Monitor and drive sell-in and sell-out numbers across MT stores.Ensure SKU-wise visibility and secondary sales growth.Team & Channel Management
Lead and manage regional MT sales teams and merchandisers across India.Provide guidance on account management, promotions, and in-store execution.Coordinate with distributors / CFAs to ensure smooth supply chain operations.Promotions & Merchandising
Plan & execute in-store activations, sampling, displays, and festival campaigns.Ensure planogram adherence, shelf space optimization, and brand visibility.Work with the marketing team to align national campaigns with MT promotions.Business Analytics & Reporting
Track sales performance, ROI of promotions, and competitor activity.Analyse market trends, customer insights, and develop corrective strategies.Provide weekly / monthly reports to management on sales performance.Key Skills & Competencies
Strong and established network with Pan-India MT chains.Deep knowledge of FMCG Food sales dynamics, pricing, and promotions.Strong negotiation, relationship management, and leadership skills.Analytical mindset with ability to derive insights from sales data.Willingness to travel extensively across India.Qualifications & Experience
Graduate / MBA in Sales, Marketing, or Business.10–12 years of FMCG sales experience, with at least 5+ years in Modern Trade leadership roles.Proven track record of scaling FMCG Food brands in MT at a Pan-India level.Show more
