Role Description
The Area Sales Manager will drive sales, distribution and brand presence in the assigned territory, with a special focus on tissue paper, disposable cutlery, dry fruits and allied FMCG categories. The role requires strong expertise in channel management, distributor network expansion and team leadership across General Trade, Modern Trade and HoReCa.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Growth
- Deliver sales targets (volume, value, and market share) for tissue paper, disposable cutlery, dry fruits, and other product categories.
- Expand numeric & weighted distribution, ensuring product penetration across urban and semi-urban markets.
- Drive promotional campaigns, trade schemes, and seasonal sales plans (e.g., festive season for dry fruits).
Channel & Distribution Management
- Develop and manage distributor / stockist networks for bulk and retail sales.
- Ensure ROI for trade partners with effective supply chain and stock management.
- Strengthen presence across GT, MT, and HoReCa channels with focus on institutional buyers, hotels, restaurants, caterers, and corporates.
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor Sales Officers / Territory Executives.
- Ensure effective market coverage through beat planning and performance monitoring.
- Drive productivity and motivation through structured sales reviews and training.
Market Development
- Tap new markets for institutional sales ( GT, hotels, hospitals, cafeterias, corporates).
- Ensure planogram compliance, visibility, and merchandising in modern trade.
- Monitor competitor pricing, market activities, and emerging trends in hygiene products and dry fruits.
Operations & Reporting
- Ensure timely order booking, billing, and payment collection.
- Maintain hygiene in sales reporting – daily / weekly MIS, market intelligence, competition mapping.
- Adhere to company policies on credit, schemes, and trade promotions.
Key Skills & Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of tissue paper, napkins, disposable cutlery, and dry fruits market dynamics.
- Strong distributor & retail relationship management.
- Hands-on experience in GT, MT & HoReCa.
- Strong negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to drive results in competitive FMCG categories.
Qualifications & Experience
- MBA in Marketing, Sales or Business Management.
- 5–10 years of experience in FMCG / Hygiene Products / Disposable Cutlery / Dry Fruits / Food & Beverages / Consumers Goods / Kitchen Appliances.
- Proven experience in launching & scaling new categories.
- Experience in handling festive / seasonal demand cycles (especially for dry fruits).
