Process Engineer

Position Summary

The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for process design, operation, and optimization of ZLD systems integrated into Oil & Gas wastewater management networks. This includes ensuring optimal recovery of reusable water, reduction of waste streams, and adherence to process safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Design and optimize process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for ZLD systems in refinery or upstream operations.

Perform mass and energy balances for evaporation, crystallization, and RO systems treating high-TDS or hydrocarbon-laden wastewater.

Monitor and analyze ZLD performance metrics to identify opportunities for improving efficiency, water recovery, and energy utilization.

Troubleshoot operational issues and recommend corrective process adjustments or system modifications.

Support the commissioning, performance testing, and handover of new or upgraded ZLD systems.

Develop and maintain SOPs, design documents, and plant operating manuals.

Collaborate with E&I and mechanical teams for control strategy improvements and process integration.

Evaluate new technologies for brine minimization and water reuse in oilfield and refinery operations.

Provide technical mentorship and training to junior engineers and operations staff.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering.

7–12 years of relevant experience in process engineering of ZLD, ETP, or produced water treatment systems within the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or refinery sector.

Deep knowledge of process design and optimization for high-salinity and hydrocarbon-contaminated wastewater.

Familiarity with key unit operations : MEE, MVR, RO, crystallizers, and pre-treatment systems.

Proficiency in process simulation tools (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or equivalent).

Strong understanding of process safety, control systems, and energy management principles.

Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
