We are looking for a dynamic Pharmacy Operations Manager to lead our pharmacy operations and drive performance across our stores.
Role Overview
The Retail Pharmacy Operations Manager will oversee the daily operations of multiple pharmacy outlets (or a cluster), ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, inventory optimization, and excellent customer / patient service. This role will be instrumental in driving business growth, optimizing processes, and building a high-performing pharmacy team.
Key Responsibilities -
1. Operations Management :
- Oversee and standardize daily pharmacy workflows across stores.
- Ensure safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of medications.
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
2. Inventory & Supply Chain :
Manage procurement, inventory levels, and stock rotation.Forecast demand, track expiration, and minimize waste.Work with vendors to negotiate contracts and delivery schedules.3. Financial Performance & Budgeting :
Monitor pharmacy P&L, cost structures, and revenue streams (prescriptions + OTC).Implement cost-control strategies while maintaining quality of service.Track key financial and operational KPIs, prepare reports, and drive continuous improvement.4. Team Leadership & Talent Management :
Lead, mentor, and train pharmacists, technicians, and support staff.Recruit, schedule, evaluate, and develop pharmacy team members.Promote a culture of accountability, customer service, and operational excellence.5. Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance :
Ensure compliance with national / state pharmacy laws, safety standards, and audits.Conduct regular internal audits, ensure proper documentation, and drive quality initiatives.Implement risk management strategies to minimize dispensing errors.6. Customer / Patient Experience :
Maintain high standards of patient counseling, OTC guidance, and customer service.Resolve escalations, patient feedback, and service-related issues.Collaborate with local healthcare providers to strengthen pharmacy-patient relationships.7. Strategic Projects & Process Improvement :
Identify process inefficiencies and lead improvement initiatives (digital, automation, lean).Lead or support strategic pharmacy projects (new service lines, store expansion, patient programs).Drive adoption of technology / tools to improve workflows and patient experience.Required Qualifications & Experience
Education : Bachelor's in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) / Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) or equivalent.Experience : Minimum 10 years in a pharmacy setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management position.Regulatory Knowledge : Strong understanding of pharmacy laws, drug storage, and quality standards.Leadership Skills : Demonstrated experience in leading pharmacy teams, managing performance, and building talent.Analytical & Financial Acumen : Ability to manage budgets, analyze metrics, and drive business outcomes.Operational Expertise : Proficient in inventory management, supply chain principles, and pharmacy systems / software.Communication : Excellent verbal / written communication and interpersonal skills.Problem-Solving : Strong organizational skills, with the ability to drive process improvements and resolve operational issues.Desirable Skills / Certifications (nice-to-have)
