Join Miwatj Health as an SEWB Case Manager and support clients across East Arnhem Land living with mental illness through holistic, culturally safe and trauma-informed care. In this role, you will complete intake assessments, develop and implement strengths-based recovery plans, coordinate support with families, health professionals and service providers (including NDIS where needed), and deliver meaningful community-based wellbeing activities. You will mentor Community Workers, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and travel regularly to remote communities often by light aircraft to ensure clients receive flexible, person-centred support that strengthens resilience, healing and self-determination.
This is a full-time, fixed-term role, until 30 June 2026

Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region, and dedicated outreach teams who travel to 3 additional locations.
Essential Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong commitment to Aboriginal Community Control and self-determination, along with a deep understanding of the issues faced by Yolŋu people living in remote communities. You will have at least two years’ experience in SEWB or community services, with demonstrated skills in person-centred, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice. Your ability to communicate effectively, build trust, and collaborate with families, stakeholders and community members will be essential, as will personal qualities such as reliability, persistence and creative problem-solving. You’ll be confident working independently while contributing to a supportive team, and able to maintain accurate records, data and reporting. A current NT Ochre Card is required, along with the willingness to travel to remote communities including by light aircraft—for extended periods of up to five days at a time.
