We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Plant Head to lead the comprehensive operations of our automotive or auto component manufacturing plant. This pivotal role involves driving manufacturing excellence, optimizing resources, fostering a safety-first culture, and achieving ambitious production, quality, and cost targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall operations of the plant, ensuring production targets, quality standards, cost efficiency, and delivery timelines are consistently met.
- Translate organizational vision and strategy into actionable plant-level goals and initiatives to ensure sustainable performance and growth.
- Drive world-class manufacturing excellence through the deployment of Lean Manufacturing Systems , including TPM, TQM, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ensure optimal utilization of resources (man, machine, material, and method) to maximize output and operational efficiency.
- Oversee end-to-end plant functions including production, maintenance, quality, supply chain, engineering, safety, and HR .
- Implement robust systems for demand forecasting, capacity planning, and production scheduling to achieve On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery targets.
- Lead initiatives for modernizing plant layouts, automation, and adoption of advanced technologies to improve productivity and scalability.
- Establish and monitor plant-level KPIs (PQCDSM—Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Morale) to drive data-based decision-making and continuous performance improvement.
- Maintain high standards of quality control and ensure reduction in internal rejections, customer complaints (PPM), and process wastage through First Time Right practices.
- Lead cost optimization efforts in areas such as inventory management, logistics, freight, energy usage, and material procurement to enhance plant profitability.
- Drive energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives, ensuring minimal environmental impact and regulatory compliance.
- Foster a safety-first culture , ensuring strict adherence to EHS guidelines and SOPs to create a safe working environment.
- Develop and nurture a high-performing team through structured talent development, capability building, and succession planning.
- Strengthen relationships with OEM customers, auditors, and key stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain business continuity.
- Collaborate closely with central functions (Corporate, R&D, SCM, Sales) to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Skills Required
Educational Background :
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (from a reputed institute preferred).Experience :
18+ years of experience in automotive or auto component manufacturing .Hands-on experience in Forging, Casting, Machining, Heat Treatment, and Surface Treatment is essential.Key Skills & Competencies :
Expertise in manufacturing systems, lean practices, and quality management tools (TPM, TQM, Kaizen, SMED, etc.).Strong operational and financial acumen with experience managing P&L, cost centers, and plant-level KPIs.Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage large workforces effectively.Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing skills , with the ability to represent the plant in audits, reviews, and commercial discussions.Skills Required
