Music Teacher Positions 2026
Mansfield Steiner School is seeking to appoint dynamic and suitably qualified teachers to the following ongoing music positions.
These are ongoing salary-based positions, and any of the roles may be combined into a 1.0 FTE position for the right candidate.

General School Requirements for All Positions
The successful candidates will have :
- A strong background in music education and a passion for teaching.
- A demonstrated commitment to Steiner education or a willingness to learn.
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship skills with the ability to relate to children and young people.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work successfully within a team.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience.
- A current Working with Children Check or VIT Registration.
General Duties & Expectations :
Be at school for the committed hours of employment and be punctual for lessons, duties, and meetings.Attend Staff and faculty meetings, as well as other relevant meetings as determined by the School Leadership Team.Be rostered on for yard duty, supervising children before, during, and after school as required.Actively work as part of a team, both with the Faculty and the School as a whole.Attend and participate in whole school festivals, open days, and fairs.Attend and participate in curriculum / staff development days and in-service or training courses.Be available to attend relevant meetings, workshops, and conferences outside school hours.Follow up and be familiar with all school policies.Maintain professional standards at all times, particularly with regard to communication, confidentiality, collegiality, and the School Ethos.Commitment to work within Victorian Child Safe Standards.Specific Position Details
Classroom Music Teacher (Primary, Secondary or IB Music) | 0.6 FTE
The successful applicant will have :
A passion for music education and experience working in a classroom setting. Experience in either Primary, Secondary, or International Baccalaureate is highly desirable.A strong background in Kodaly and / or Orff pedagogy and choral skills.Current VIT Registration.Instrumental Music Tutor Positions
Instrument-specific positions may be filled by tutors.
Cello Teacher | 1.0 FTE
The successful applicant will :
Have the ability to teach cello to a high level, including IBDP music.Have a strong working knowledge of classical cello repertoire as well as a variety of other styles, including folk and improvisation.Be comfortable teaching Class 3 to Class 12 students.Have the ability to facilitate and direct string ensembles if required.Ability to teach other instruments (violin & viola) is an advantage.VIT Registration is an advantage.Piano Teacher | 0.4 FTE
The successful applicant will :
Have the ability to teach piano to a high level, including IBDP music.Have the ability to accompany AMEB exam students and school choirs.Have a strong working knowledge of classical piano repertoire as well as a variety of other styles including jazz and improvisation.Be comfortable teaching Class 3 to Class 12 students.Ability to teach other instruments is an advantage.VIT Registration is an advantage.Application Process
