Key Responsibilities :
1. GST Litigation Management :
- Handle all stages of GST litigation including replies to show cause notices, representation before adjudicating authorities, and filing appeals before Commissioner (Appeals), Appellate Tribunal, High Courts, etc.
- Draft and review legal submissions, petitions, and correspondence with tax authorities.
- Liaise with external counsels and consultants for complex litigation matters.
2. Advisory & Compliance :
Provide expert advice on GST matters including classification, valuation, input tax credit, place of supply, etc.Analyze tax notices, orders, audit findings, and initiate appropriate legal responses.Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for audit readiness and litigation defense.3. Legal Research & Interpretation :
Conduct in-depth legal research on GST provisions, advance rulings, and case laws.Track changes in tax laws, judicial precedents, and notify internal stakeholders of potential impact.Prepare position papers, legal opinions, and risk assessments.4. Internal Coordination & Representation :
Work closely with finance, accounts, and business teams for data collection, reconciliations, and clarifications needed during litigation.Represent the company during departmental audits and investigations.5. MIS & Reporting :
Maintain updated trackers of litigation cases, deadlines, hearing dates, and outcomes.Generate regular reports for management on status, exposure, and progress of GST litigations.Key Requirements :
Education :Chartered Accountant (CA), LL.B., or equivalent qualification with specialization in Indirect Taxation.Experience :3–8 years of experience in GST litigation and indirect tax practice, either in industry or with a consulting / law firm.Skills :Deep understanding of GST laws and litigation framework in IndiaStrong drafting and legal research skillsExcellent communication and negotiation abilitiesProficient in MS Office, GSTN portal, and legal databasesSkills Required
