Role Summary :
We are seeking a strategic and experienced finance leader to join our India operations as Additional CFO. This role will be critical in aligning the financial strategy and operations of the India entity with the Group's global trading goals. The ideal candidate will bring deep domain expertise in commodity and coal trading, strong command over Indian and international financial regulations, and proven experience in trade finance, compliance, and cross-border structuring.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Strategic Financial Leadership
Drive financial strategy and decision-making for India operations.
Guide capital allocation, pricing models, and margin optimization.
Advise the Board and CEO with forward-looking financial insights and risk assessments.
2. Financial Reporting & Controls
Ensure accurate and timely financial statements under Indian Accounting Standards (Ind-AS).
Coordinate with Singapore HQ for financial consolidation under IFRS / FRS.
Lead audits, internal controls, and ERP implementations tailored for trading environments.
3. Trade Finance & Working Capital Management
Structure and manage trade finance instruments (LCs, SBLCs, buyer's / supplier's credit).
Optimize working capital cycles in line with commodity pricing and shipment logistics.
Manage banking relationships for FX, hedging, and credit facilities.
Leverage supply chain finance strategies effectively.
4. Regulatory Compliance (India & International)
Ensure full compliance with :
Indian Companies Act, Income Tax Act, and GST
FEMA and RBI guidelines for cross-border trade
DGFT and Customs regulations
Align compliance processes with Singapore HQ.
5. Related Party Transactions (RPTs)
Monitor intra-group and cross-border transactions for arm's length pricing.
Ensure adherence to Indian transfer pricing rules and Companies Act Section 188.
Maintain robust documentation for audits and tax scrutiny in India and Singapore.
6. POEM (Place of Effective Management) Risk Mitigation
Mitigate tax residency risks for foreign entities by maintaining decision-making in Singapore.
Ensure governance logs, board meetings, and key decisions originate from HQ.
Liaise with tax advisors for compliance validation.
7. Tax Planning & Optimization
Manage direct tax, GST, and transfer pricing exposures.
Optimize tax structures under the India-Singapore DTAA.
Lead tax assessments, appeals, and Advance Pricing Agreements, if applicable.
8. Risk Management
Build frameworks to manage commodity price volatility, FX risk, and credit exposures.
Implement hedging strategies and internal risk reviews.
Oversee insurance coverage for inventory and shipments.
9. Commercial Strategy Support
Collaborate with trading teams to assess deal profitability and contract terms.
Support pricing models for tenders and large transactions.
Provide financial insights based on global commodity trends.
10. Team Development & Leadership
Build and manage a high-performing finance team with expertise in trade finance and compliance.
Foster a results-oriented and ethical culture.
Deliver training on international tax, RPT compliance, and commodity finance practices.
Qualifications & Experience :
Chartered Accountant (CA) is mandatory .
10+ years of experience in financial leadership roles, preferably within coal, commodity, or energy sectors.
Strong understanding of :
Indian regulatory frameworks (Ind-AS, GST, FEMA, RBI, Transfer Pricing)
Singapore tax / accounting practices
Cross-border trade structuring and compliance
Expertise in POEM risk management and related party transactions.
