Role Overview :
The Project and Network Lead will be responsible for end-to-end planning, coordination, and execution of IT infrastructure setup projects for new GCC sites. This includes client requirement gathering, infrastructure design coordination, procurement management, vendor engagement, installation oversight, and final handover.
The role requires strong project management, vendor coordination, and documentation skills to ensure smooth delivery of IT infrastructure in line with organizational standards, timelines, and budgets.
Key Responsibilities :
- Client Requirement & Design Coordination
- Conduct detailed discussions with clients to understand their current IT infrastructure setup and requirements.
- Coordinate preparation of HLD and LLD with the Infrastructure Architect.
- Obtain necessary floor plans and related design inputs from Real Estate or Facilities teams.
- Oversee commissioning and implementation activities in line with project plans.
- Validate vendor invoices and process payments in coordination with finance teams.
- Procurement Planning & Vendor Management
- Develop BoM, BoQ, and RFPs.
- Shortlist vendors through qualification and evaluation processes.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process in coordination with internal procurement teams.
- Ensure compliance with global standards, documentation requirements, and approvals.
- Project Preparation & Documentation
- Maintain all supporting documents (exemptions, approvals, contracts) for vendor engagement.
- Prepare and manage all delivery, installation, and handover documentation.
- Implementation Oversight
- Ensure site readiness for IT infrastructure installation, including last-mile connectivity and server / hub room preparation.
- Liaise with vendors, shipping agents, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery and setup.
- Change & Risk Management
- Establish risk registers, impact assessments, and mitigation plans for IT setup projects.
- Ensure smooth change management with minimal disruption to business operations.
- Budgeting & Cost Control
- Track project budgets against forecasts and ensure cost optimization without Prepare periodic financial reports for stakeholders.
- Agile / Hybrid Project Delivery
- Introduce agile methodologies for faster rollout of IT components while maintaining waterfall
milestones for critical infra dependencies.
Conduct sprint reviews and stakeholder updates.Stakeholder ReportingProvide weekly / monthly dashboards on project progress, risks, and dependencies for leadership visibility.LAN / WAN & Wireless DeploymentDesign and implement scalable LAN / WAN architecture including structured cabling, access switches, core switching, and wireless AP deployment.Data Center & Cloud IntegrationOversee setup of server rooms, racks, and integration with hybrid cloud or private cloud services.Ensure resilience through load balancing, clustering, and failover strategies.Security & ComplianceConfigure next-gen firewalls, VPNs, IDS / IPS, and NAC for secure connectivity.Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, GDPR, or client-specific security requirements.Monitoring & Network PerformanceImplement network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix, etc.) to track uptime, latency, and packet loss.Optimize bandwidth usage and plan for capacity scaling.Collaboration & Communication SystemsDeploy unified communications platforms (VoIP, video conferencing, Microsoft Teams / Zoom integrations).Ensure QoS (Quality of Service) on networks for voice and video.Handover & ClosureConduct walk-throughs with GCC IT leads, ensuring all installed infrastructure is documented and handed over.Provide all relevant OEM manuals, contracts, and vendor details.Obtain final project sign-off from stakeholders.Required Skills & Competencies :
Project Management : Ability to manage multiple IT setup projects simultaneously within defined timelines and budgets.Technical Understanding : Knowledge of IT infrastructure components including networking, servers, firewalls, switches, end-user devices, and telecommunication systems.Vendor & Procurement Management : Strong experience in procurement processes, vendor evaluation, and contract management.Documentation & Compliance : Proficiency in preparing project documentation, ensuring compliance with standards and audit requirements.Communication & Coordination : Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with internal teams, vendors, and clients.Qualifications & Experience :
Bachelors degree in information technology, Computer Science, Electronics, or related field.10-12 years of experience in IT infrastructure project delivery, preferably in a GCC or corporate environment.Experience working with cross-functional teams and external vendors.(ref : iimjobs.com)
