The Lead Systems Administrator is a senior technical leader and mentor within the Systems Operations team. This role serves as the primary escalation point for complex infrastructure issues and is responsible for guiding the team in monitoring, triaging, and resolving incidents in a world-class production environment. The Lead will drive the improvement of operational standards, collaborate with engineering teams on architectural decisions, and lead projects to enhance system reliability and performance. This individual’s blend of deep technical knowledge and leadership will be crucial in preventing production impacts and mentoring the next level of system administrators.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role :

Team Leadership and Mentorship (40%) : Act as a technical mentor and escalation point for Systems Administrators. Lead the team during high-priority incidents and provide guidance on troubleshooting methodologies and root cause analysis.Infrastructure Strategy and Projects (30%) : Lead and participate in medium to large-scale application and infrastructure implementation projects. Ensure all new systems conform to System Operations monitoring standards and architectural best practices.Advanced Troubleshooting and Resolution (20%) : Resolve the most complex infrastructure operational issues, often requiring innovative solutions where established procedures do not exist. Perform deep-dive analysis to identify and eliminate root causes of recurring problems.Cross-Functional Collaboration (10%) : Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences at all organizational levels. Act as a key liaison between Systems Operations and other engineering and development teams to diagnose and resolve complex problems.Required Education, Experience / Skills / Training : Minimum and Preferred. Inclusive of Licenses / Certs (include functional experience as well as behavioral attributes and / or leadership capabilities)8+ years of progressively complex related experience.BA / BS degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Proven experience leading technical teams or projects.Expert-level experience with Linux (Installation, Configuration, Performance Tuning, Security).Strong proficiency in scripting languages for automation (Python, Bash).Advanced experience with configuration management tools like Ansible and Ansible Tower.In-depth knowledge of infrastructure monitoring solutions (Icinga, Zabbix) and experience designing custom checks and dashboards.Strong understanding of security, networking concepts, and protocols.Experience leading support for high-profile, live events.
