The Instructional Designer (ID) for Research & Development (R&D) within Global Learning Solutions (GLS) will report to the Sr. Manager of Instructional Design Team Lead and collaborate with the Global Learning & Performance (GL&P) Learning Professionals. This role supports R&D teams across regions, including the US, Europe, Intercontinental, and JAPAC, to develop learning solutions aligned with organizational objectives and business needs.
The ID will design high-impact learning solutions related to compliance (e.g., Good Clinical Practice, Pharmacovigilance, inspection readiness) and clinical trial execution. The role will involve creating content outlines, design documents, storyboards, performance support tools, and eLearning modules, while adhering to best practices and ensuring all deliverables meet the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Instructional Design & Content Development
- Design and develop learning solutions (content outlines, design documents, style guides / templates, storyboards, infographics, and eLearning modules) aligned with R&D objectives and business needs.
- Partner with R&D clients to design engaging and effective learning programs for key roles in Research, Global Regulatory Affairs and Safety, Global Development , and Global Medical Affairs .
- Consult with GLS and functional partners to determine the most appropriate learning solutions for specific training needs.
- Develop eLearning modules using authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Creative Suite, Vyond , etc., ensuring high-quality learning experiences.
2. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with R&D teams , vendors, shared service providers, and contractors to create and deliver training materials.Work closely with stakeholders to ensure adherence to governance, design, and development processes throughout the training lifecycle.Provide thought leadership on innovative instructional design strategies to improve learning outcomes.3. Content Creation & Media Assets
Create and identify media assets required for training programs and ensure they align with instructional needs.Support the identification and creation of various media elements such as videos, graphics, and animations that enhance the learning experience.4. Process Improvement & Training Execution
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in instructional design practices, collaborating with GL&P colleagues to share resources and refine processes.Execute on departmental goals , ensuring all training projects align with strategic initiatives.Maintain consistent quality in design deliverables, meeting organizational standards and client expectations.Basic Qualifications :
Master's Degree ORBachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in Training & Development, ORAssociate Degree and 6 years of experience in Training & Development, ORMinimum of 8+ years as an Instructional Designer or Training & Development professional supporting a multinational organization.Must-Have Skills :
Experience conducting training needs analysis to determine appropriate learning solutions.Proficiency in eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise , Adobe Creative Suite , Vyond , etc.Experience designing and implementing learning solutions related to compliance (e.g., Good Clinical Practice , Pharmacovigilance , inspection readiness ) and clinical trial execution .Knowledge of the clinical trial / drug development process or experience in a clinical trial-related role.Preferred Qualifications :
In-depth understanding of learning theories and instructional design models .Strong consulting and stakeholder management skills .Experience creating rapid design solutions to meet changing needs.Experience with Microsoft tools including Sharepoint , Teams , and Forms .Expertise in designing training programs for roles within Research , Global Regulatory Affairs , Global Development , and Global Medical Affairs .Experience implementing learning solutions that comply with accessibility requirements (e.g., WCAG ).Experience in managing translations for learning deliverables.Soft Skills :
