Role Overview
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader (MHWL) will lead a whole-school approach to student mental health and wellbeing. This role is part of the Victorian Government’s Mental Health in Primary Schools initiative and is designed to build school capacity, support staff, and coordinate referral pathways for students in need.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote mental health and wellbeing across the school community.
- Support staff in identifying and responding to student mental health needs.
- Embed evidence-based mental health strategies into teaching and learning.
- Coordinate internal and external referral pathways.
- Collaborate with leadership, wellbeing teams, families, and external agencies.
- Participate in professional development and learning communities.
Selection Criteria
Ability to influence and support others in student engagement, wellbeing, and learning.Experience in developing and evaluating mental health strategies.Skills in connecting students with external services.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Capacity to build collaborative relationships across the school community.Qualifications
Registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.Teaching qualification required.Mental health or wellbeing qualification desirable.Experience in Steiner / Waldorf education desirable but not essential.Application Process
