- We're seeking an experienced Mental Health Professional with a desire to make a difference. The successful candidate will lead our multidisciplinary mental health teams.. This role is a great opportunity to further hone your clinical leadership skills.
- The role will involve providing clinical oversight, coordination, supervision, and positive leadership to the headspace Maitland team who provide a full-service headspace centre with four core streams of Mental Health, Physical and sexual Health, Alcohol and Other Drug and Vocational and educational supports to young people aged 12-25yrs in the community. headspace Cessnock is a satellite service, providing Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drug, and Vocational education support 3 days a week.
- You will be able to utilise your experience providing age appropriate evidence-based interventions while improving service delivery and access to young people.
Role & Responsibilities :
Responsibilities of the Clinical Lead include :
- Take a lead role in support the headspace staff, private allied health providers and collocated services, to respond to clients presenting to headspace Maitland or Cessnock
- Assess young people in accordance with designated headspace governance tools
- Assist the Centre Manager to monitor the effectiveness of the Intake systems and referral pathways for young people who access headspace. Identify gaps for improvement
- Assisting with recruitment and training of clinical staff
- Coordinate Intake team rosters
- Monitor wait times, identify alternate strategies to manage and / or assist client’s engagement in therapeutic interventions
- Oversee any outreach services provided by our services
- Promote and adhere to a young person-centred approach working collaboratively for the engagement, assessment, treatment and recovery of young people accessing headspace.
- Deliver culturally safe and respectful services.
- Promote and adhere to youth friendly practice principles
- Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders and referral networks
About you?
- Tertiary degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or similar
- Minimum 2 year work experience in youth mental health settings
- Currently registered with, and able to maintain relevant professional association (AHPRA / AASW)
- Demonstrated evidence based clinical skills in assessment and working with young people and their families / carers in a mental health or drug and alcohol setting
- An understanding of the needs of young people experiencing mental health and other concerns
- Experience leading a team and providing formal and informal supervision
- Ability to advocate for improved accessibility for young people across a number of service systems
- Ability to manage and monitor outcomes
- An understanding of and commitment to Child Protection legislation and OH&S principles
- Current Unrestricted Drivers Licence, WWCC, current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain) & COVID vaccination evidence
