Job description

We are looking for a dynamic and results-driven Setup, Promotion and Marketing Manager to spearhead the operationalization and expansion of our UNOPS LTA award at Solon India. This pivotal role involves managing all aspects of our engagement with the UNOPS WebBuyPlus e-commerce platform, from product posting and supply chain oversight to customer communication and financial reporting. Beyond UNOPS, you will drive the development and promotion of our turnkey containerized solar solutions to private sector clients, crafting business cases, marketing materials, and a robust partner network. This position requires a blend of strategic vision and hands-on execution, as you'll be responsible for setting up a comprehensive service network, managing IP rights, and ensuring effective data management. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of solar PV systems, EPC projects, and international stakeholder management, coupled with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills. Responsibilities :

UNOPS LTA Product & Supply Management

  • Post and manage all 6 UNOPS LTA containerized solar power plants on the WebBuyPlus platform, ensuring accurate specifications and compelling promotional materials.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Solon's communications with UNOPS LTA, managing reporting requirements and addressing inquiries promptly.
  • Identify, scope, and manage outsourced contracts for specialized services not available in-house, ensuring quality control and adherence to timelines.
  • Oversee customer communications and maintain strong relationships with UN Agency clients, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Monitor stock levels, production timelines, and spare parts inventory to ensure timely order fulfillment and minimize disruptions.
  • Set up a project cost accounting system for accurate monthly and quarterly financial reporting to UNOPS, ensuring compliance and transparency.
  • Marketing & Promotion (UNOPS & Private Sector)

  • Develop a comprehensive portfolio of promotional materials, including brochures, presentations, and case studies, tailored to UN and private sector audiences.
  • Design and develop a dedicated Solon website (or addon to the existing site) specifically marketing WebBuyPlus products and turnkey containerized solutions.
  • Research and identify potential turnkey applications of containerized solar power plants in the private sector, assessing market opportunities and penetration strategies.
  • Draft detailed business cases, including financial models, to support the development and commercialization of turnkey containerized products for private sector clients.
  • Create awareness and training programs for business partners and service partner network, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to effectively promote and support Solon's solutions.
  • Explore opportunities for inclusion of Solon containerized products with other international agencies (World Bank, ADB, Global Fund etc.), expanding market reach and impact.
  • Partner & Service Network Development

  • Build a robust partner promotional and service network for containerized products, leveraging existing and new local partners to expand market reach and support capabilities.
  • Set up a comprehensive service network through Solon's MoU partner network, ensuring reliable warranty and after-sales service for customers.
  • Maintain a detailed sales inventory, client follow-up system, and product improvement database to track performance and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Liaise closely with the manager of the containerized product technical development program to ensure alignment between product development and market needs.
  • Set in place a business opportunities and tracking system to proactively identify and pursue potential leads and projects.
  • Put in place IP Rights and protection system to safeguard Solon's innovations and competitive advantage in the containerized solar solutions market.
  • Data Management & Reporting

  • Work with the Solon Intranet development team to establish a robust data management and archiving system for containerized solutions.
  • Maintain a sales inventory, client follow-up, and product improvement database to track performance and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Evaluate progress after a 24-month introductory trial period to determine the financial and operational viability of investments in private sector turnkey solutions.
  • Manage Solon to UNOPS LTA communications and reporting interface.
  • Maintain a sales inventory, client follow-up and product improvement database.
  • Set up a project cost accounting system for monthly and quarterly financial reporting to UNOPS.
  • General Expectations and Past Experiences :

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field, coupled with 8-10 years of experience in sales, marketing, or program management within the solar energy sector.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in UNOPS LTA management, including experience with WebBuyPlus e-commerce platform and reporting requirements.
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of solar PV systems, EPC projects, and turnkey solar solutions, with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute market expansion strategies, including identifying target markets, building partner networks, and creating compelling marketing materials.
  • Possess excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with international stakeholders (UN Agencies, private sector clients, and partners).
  • Demonstrated experience in financial modeling, budget management, and performance tracking, with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess market opportunities, evaluate risks, and develop effective solutions.
