Structural Engineer (Power)

Job description

• Burns & McDonnell India (BMI) Energy Division is looking for a well-rounded and driven structural Engineer in the Mumbai Office. The Energy Division focuses on power generating facilities which offer a wide range of design and project execution experiences. This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria
• Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Performs work that involves conventional engineering practices but may involve a variety of complex features. Requires general knowledge of precedents in specialty areas and familiarity with basic principles and practices in related specialties. May coordinate departmental and divisional project studies and report preparation assignments. The position will require extensive interface with equipment suppliers / vendors, and with Burns & McDonnell project managers, other engineering disciplines, modelers, designers, and detailers locally in the Mumbai office as well as remotely in various offices in the United States. Additional responsibilities include :
• Perform routine / complex types of calculations and designs using both computer-aided and manual design techniques.
• Design of equipment foundations.
• Structural steel design for pipe racks and other power plant structures.
• Coordinate project design assignments and design teams.
• Must be capable of interpreting and developing solutions to complex problems.
