Cassandra DBA

The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, installing and managing our databases. You will ensure optimal database performance by analyzing database issues and monitoring database performance.

As a Senior Database Administrator at Proofpoint, you will be responsible for provisioning, maintaining, and scaling our most critical data storage and intelligence platforms. You will build, maintain, and scale production services and server farms across multiple global data centers and public cloud providers. You will contribute to the product architecture to improve our services' performance, operability, scalability, service reliability, capacity, and observability. • Collaborate with our other team members to manage both our production SQL-based and Cassandra / NoSQL databases.
• Manage mission-critical high transaction rate databases, including configuration, administration, monitoring, security management, performance optimization, replication, troubleshooting, and backup of both traditional SQL databases (MySQL / Percona) and NoSQL databases (Cassandra / MongoDB.)
• Install, configure, and upgrade nodes in high availability customer production clusters.
• Manage an international 24x7, multi-site production infrastructure powering the Proofpoint services, including deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security.
• Ensure proper monitoring, alerting, capacity planning and reporting in the production environment.
• Contribute to the evolving design and architecture of reliable and scalable infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product engineering teams to ensure Operations standards are observed, determine resource impacts for upcoming product deployments, and ensure successful product rollouts.
• Develop processes, tools, and documentation in support of production operations.
