Job Description : Sr. / Assistant Manager – IPP Business Development
Position : GM / Sr Manager – IPP Business Development (Open Access)
Location : Uttar Pradesh (site-based)
Reporting to : Vice President / Managing Director
Experience :
- GM : Minimum 10–12 years of experience in renewable energy project development, with at least 5 years in leadership roles handling IPP projects under the Open Access Policy.
- Sr Manager : Minimum 4–6 years of experience in renewable energy (preferably solar), with at least one complete IPP project cycle under the Open Access Policy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Client Acquisition
Identify, target, and acquire corporate and industrial clients for power purchase through open access from IPP projects.Lead end-to-end negotiations for Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), ensuring favourable terms and long-term partnerships.Build and nurture strong client relationships to ensure recurring business and maximum off-take from IPP capacity.To ensure a strong pipe line of clients for the upcoming and future IPP projects of the company.2. Market Strategy & Opportunity Identification
Conduct market research to identify high-potential clients and emerging trends in renewable energy under the Open Access Policy.Monitor tariffs, regulations, and competitor activities to create competitive pricing and business proposals.Develop growth strategies for expanding IPP capacity and client base.3. Project Coordination & Government Liaison
Liaise with UPNEDA and various other state Renewable Energy Nodal Agencies, state regulatory bodies, and local authorities for necessary approvals, permits, and policy compliance.Support land acquisition and grid connectivity processes in coordination with internal teams.Ensure timely documentation and licensing for smooth project execution.4. Stakeholder Management
Maintain relationships with landowners, government officials, corporate clients, and contractors to resolve challenges quickly.Handle community engagement, environmental concerns, and dispute resolution during project execution.5. Revenue Generation & Growth
Achieve assigned revenue and PPA signing targets.Explore new business avenues including additional IPP projects or expansion into new regions.6. Internal Coordination
Work closely with legal, procurement, technical, and project execution teams to align business development efforts with project timelines and operational requirements.Provide regular status updates, market insights, and risk assessments to senior management.Qualifications & Skills
Education :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or Business. MBA preferred.Experience :
Proven track record in IPP business development, PPA negotiations, and renewable energy project execution under the Open Access Policy.Strong network with government agencies, industrial clients, and renewable energy stakeholders.Knowledge :
In-depth understanding of Open Access Policy, renewable energy regulations, and PPA structures.Familiarity with land acquisition, grid connectivity, and regulatory compliance processes.Skills :
Strategic business development, client acquisition, and negotiation skills.Strong leadership (for GM) / coordination (for Sr Mgr) abilities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.Key Attributes
