As an Infrastructure Engineer II at JPMorganChase within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you develop knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Through this work role in the Mainframe OS / ISV team, within the Mainframe and Midrange Compute (MMC) organization, is responsible for planning, designing, installation, configuration, and support of highly resilient and stable Mainframe infrastructure employing automated scripting where feasible.

Job responsibilities

• Applies technical knowledge to assignments with a defined scope such as testing the performance of the infrastructure and understanding and verifying that requirements were successfully met
• Demonstrates strong Mainframe Systems Programming including a deep understanding of z / OS Concepts, JCL, JES, SDSF, VSAM, Catalog management, SMP / E, USS, Parallel Sysplex, IBM system utilities and some of the IBM / Broadcom CA / BMC Compuware software artifacts
• Possess a strong drive to create innovative solutions for complex challenges using automation tools.
• Additionally, a passion for technology and a willingness to embrace new ideas for managing Mainframe infrastructure software are crucial for success in this role.
• Drives results, collects and analyzes monitoring data in test and production, and sees assignments through to completion
• Carries out day to day work assignments with some guidance and within documented parameters
• Escalates issues to appropriate leaders
• Develops considerations for upstream / downstream data and systems or technical implications

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Proficient knowledge of hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, and performance assessments
