Position Summary :
We are seeking a highly skilled Windows System Engineer to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the deployment, management, and support of Microsoft Windows Server environments. This role requires a strong foundation in server administration, Active Directory, virtualization technologies, PowerShell scripting, and infrastructure services such as DNS and DHCP.
You will be expected to work on both day-to-day operations (KTLO - Keep The Lights On) and infrastructure projects, including migrations and system upgrades.
Key Responsibilities :
Windows Server Administration :
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022 environments.
- Apply security patches, perform OS updates, and ensure server health and compliance.
Active Directory (AD) Management :
Manage AD infrastructure including user accounts, security groups, OUs, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).Troubleshoot authentication and authorization issues.Infrastructure Services :
Configure and support core services such as DNS, DHCP, and Certificate Services.Manage file and print services, including permissions and quota Support :Provision and manage virtual machines using VMware ESXi / vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.Monitor and optimize VM performance and resource usage.Scripting & Automation :
Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation of system tasks, reporting, and incident response.Automate routine administrative processes to improve Monitoring & Optimization :Use tools like SCOM, PerfMon, and other monitoring solutions to track system performance and resolve bottlenecks.Proactively identify and address system health issues.Networking Fundamentals :
Understand TCP / IP, routing, subnetting, and firewall basics for system connectivity troubleshooting.Collaborate with network teams as needed.System Migrations :
Perform P2V (Physical to Virtual) and V2V (Virtual to Virtual) migrations.Assist in server upgrades and infrastructure consolidation & Reporting :Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and change logs.Prepare technical reports, status updates, and knowledge base articles.Time Management & Project Involvement :
Balance between operational support, patching schedules, and participation in infrastructure projects.Deliver on project timelines and service level objectives.Required Qualifications :
BTech, M Tech, MCA is required.4- 9 years of experience as a Windows System Administrator or Engineer.Hands-on experience with Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022.Proficiency in managing Active Directory and GPOs.Experience with DNS, DHCP, and certificate services.Strong PowerShell scripting and automation capabilities.Familiarity with VMware ESXi / vSphere or Hyper-V platforms.Solid understanding of basic networking concepts.Experience with monitoring tools like SCOM, Nagios, or similar.Track record of performing P2V and V2V migrations.(ref : hirist.tech)
