Job description
  • The Business Head / COO will be a strategic leader responsible for overseeing and will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and strategic growth initiatives for the business.
  • The Business Head will lead manufacturing operations excellence, cost efficiency, supply chain management, quality assurance efforts, align with company's long term strategic goals, drive sales to ensure continued success and expansion of the business in the thermosets industry.
  • This role requires a results-driven leader with extensive experience in manufacturing, supply chain management, and team leadership.
  • Key Responsibilities :

    1. Operational Strategy & Leadership :

    • Develop and execute strategic plans to optimize operational processes, enhance productivity, and achieve business objectives.
    • Collaborate with the executive team to align operational strategies with overall company goals and market trends.
    • Ensure the efficient utilization of resources to meet production targets while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) like cycle time, capacity utilization, and on-time delivery.
    • Implement quality management systems and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
    • 2. Supply Chain & Vendor Management :

    • Oversee the procurement of raw materials and components, negotiating contracts and agreements with suppliers to ensure cost-effective sourcing and timely delivery.
    • Streamline supply chain processes to minimize lead times and inventory costs.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and partners to optimize supply chain efficiency and reliability.
    • 3. Team Development and Leadership :

    • Provide strong leadership and direction to departmental managers and staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Lead and mentor functional heads in production, quality, procurement, and supply chain.
    • Set clear performance goals and expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and feedback to support employee development and growth.
    • 4. Sales and Customer Focus :

    • Lead the sales team and ensure that a motivated and strong sales structure is put in place and develop tailored production solutions.
    • Create a culture of customer centricity and lead the team to resolve customer complaints and provide excellent customer service that exceeds customer's expectations.
    • Implementation of sales targets at company level.
    • Keep a on tab pricing structures, gross margin and profitability.
    • Monitor collections to avoid outstanding beyond decided days.
    • Periodically review customer wise performance, check on gaps in performance and formulate actionable steps to close the gaps.
    • 5. Financial Management :

    • Develop and manage operational budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics in collaboration with the HO finance team.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.
    • 6. Compliance and Risk Management :

    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies related to manufacturing, safety and environmental regulations.
    • Assess and mitigate operational risks, implementing appropriate controls and contingency plans to minimize business disruptions.
    • 7. Technology Integration :

    • Drive the adoption of innovative technologies to streamline manufacturing processes, enhance product quality and reduce costs.
    • Lead digital transformation initiatives, including automation, data analytics, and IoT integration, to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.
    • 8. Sustainability and Innovation :

    • Implement sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact and enhance corporate social responsibility.
    • Encourage innovation in product solutions, exploring new materials and technologies to meet evolving industry Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably related to thermosets, MBA or advanced degree preferred.
    • Proven experience in a senior operational leadership role within the thermosets industry.
    • Strong technical knowledge of thermosets manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute operational strategies that drive business growth and profitability.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
    • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and resource allocation.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
    • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) :

    • Achievement of production targets within budget and timelines.
    • Gross profit margin improvement.
    • Reduction in operational costs and waste.
    • Employee productivity and retention rates.
    • Customer satisfaction and on-time delivery performance.
