Job Purpose :
To lead the structural design function for all real estate development projects including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. The role involves overseeing structural design strategy, ensuring structural stability, optimizing designs for cost efficiency, safety, and constructability, and coordinating with architects, MEP consultants, and project teams for seamless execution.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Structural Design & Review
- Lead and oversee all structural design activities for new and ongoing projects.
- Review and approve structural designs, calculations, and drawings prepared by in-house or external consultants.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes (IS codes, NBC, BIS standards) and best engineering practices.
- Provide design solutions for complex structural challenges and ensure value engineering without compromising safety.
2. Coordination & Technical Support
Coordinate with Architectural, MEP, and Construction teams to ensure design feasibility and execution alignment.Conduct design review meetings with consultants, contractors, and internal teams.Resolve design-related technical queries during project execution.Collaborate closely with the project execution team to ensure constructability and on-site quality compliance.3. Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure that all structural designs meet seismic, wind load, and soil condition requirements.Validate material specifications and detailing for RCC and steel structures.Conduct periodic structural audits and site inspections to ensure adherence to design intent.Ensure safety and durability are integral to all design solutions.4. Consultant Management
Identify, appoint, and manage structural design consultants.Review consultant performance, deliverables, and timelines.Ensure clear communication and coordination among all design stakeholders.5. Value Engineering & Innovation
Drive cost-effective design innovations using advanced software and construction technologies.Explore alternative materials, design techniques, and construction methodologies for optimization.Implement BIM (Building Information Modelling) and digital design tools to enhance design accuracy and coordination.6. Leadership & Team Development
Lead and mentor the structural design team, promoting continuous learning and skill development.Foster collaboration between design and project execution teams.Review team outputs to ensure high standards of technical excellence.Key Skills & Competencies :
Strong expertise in RCC, Steel, and Post-Tensioned structures.Proficient in STAAD Pro, ETABS, SAFE, REVIT Structure, and other structural design software.In-depth knowledge of IS Codes, NBC, and International Standards.Excellent leadership, analytical, and coordination skills.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Ability to work on multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.Educational Qualification :
B.E. / B.Tech (Civil / Structural Engineering) MandatoryM.E. / M.Tech (Structural Engineering) Minimum : 18-25 years of experience in structural design & engineering.Industry Preference : Real Estate Developers / EPC / Structural Design Consultancy.Must have experience in high-rise residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.(ref : iimjobs.com)
