Role : Engineering Manager
Location : Gurugram
Role Purpose :
The principal responsibility of this role is to provide operational expertise along with personal and professional development leadership within the SRE team and work with the software engineering teams to design, build, release, and maintain new and existing applications, resources, and platforms. This encompasses :
- Personal and professional development through career planning resources.
- Working in partnership with the business and the technology teams, provide expertise and insight of the different operational constraints / opportunities for projects targeting cloud-based or on-premises deployment.
- Fostering a culture of radical candor in cross-functional groups, strictly following SRE best practices within a devops organization.
- Leadership of continuous process improvement initiatives within SRE teams, tools, and processes.
- Proactive approach to ensuring service availability as well as detection and prevention of problems.
- Articulate technical and business concepts to different audiences and influence technical decisions with solid metrics collection and proof of concepts.
Responsibilities :
Team Management : Oversee a team of SREs, ensuring their personal and professional growth, performance, and well-being.Talent Development : Focus on the professional development of team members through regular feedback, coaching, and career development planning.Performance Management : Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and provide ongoing feedback to team members to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.Backlog Management : Work with team members to maintain and prioritize the squad's backlog, ensuring alignment with operational goals and priorities, serving as the Product Owner for the squad.Resource Management : Strategically allocate resources across project-based teams to optimize operational efficiency and project delivery.Mentorship : Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.Collaboration : Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective delivery of projects.Process Improvement : Identify and implement process improvements to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.On-Call Support Coordination : Coordinate the on-call support rotation, ensuring adequate coverage and effective incident response. Participate in the 24 / 7 on-call rotation, serving as a second-level escalation point for incidents.Management Training : Participate in established management training provided by the company.Qualifications :

Skill Requirements :
Experience : 5+ years in Technology related roles. No prior managerial experience required, but a demonstrated ability to lead projects or teams informally is required, as well as appetite to manage people.Leadership Potential : A strong desire to transition into a managerial role with demonstrated leadership potential.Communication Skills : Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.Agile Methodologies : Experience working in Agile environments and familiarity with Agile methodologies.Problem-Solving : Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly triage and resolve issues.Mentorship and Coaching : Interest in mentoring and coaching team members to achieve their professional goals.Additional Preferred Skills :
Automation Expertise : Proficiency in automation tools and techniques.Technical Background : Deep understanding of cloud architectures and best practices., with hands-on experience in cloud environments (AWS and Azure), CI / CD tools, and automation.CI / CD Pipeline Management : Experience in managing and optimizing CI / CD pipelines.Monitoring and Logging : Familiarity with advanced monitoring and logging tools and techniques.Security Best Practices : Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks(ref : hirist.tech)
