A Relationship Manager for Agri-Business is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of clients in the agriculture sector by acquiring new relationships, managing existing ones, and cross-selling financial products like working capital loans and term loans. Key duties include understanding client needs, assessing credit and legal requirements, ensuring portfolio quality, monitoring accounts, and liaising with internal teams to provide high standards of service.
Key responsibilities
- Client acquisition and relationship management : Source new clients, including farmers and agri-entrepreneurs, and manage and deepen relationships with existing ones to increase business volume.
- Product management and sales : Offer and promote a range of financial products like working capital loans, term loans, and non-deposit products (e.g., insurance, mutual funds) to meet client needs.
- Portfolio and risk management : Monitor portfolio performance, ensure portfolio hygiene, and manage delinquencies and post-disbursement activities. This includes conducting field investigations, assessing credit and legal aspects, and ensuring compliance with policies and risk guidelines.
- Customer service : Provide high standards of customer service, resolve issues, and act as the primary point of contact for clients.
- Internal coordination : Liaise with internal teams such as credit, risk, legal, and other departments to support client requirements and ensure seamless service.
- Market intelligence : Stay informed about the agriculture market, commodity trends, and government schemes like debt waivers and crop insurance to provide relevant advice and solutions.
Required skills and qualifications
Strong relationship management, communication, and negotiation skills.Knowledge of financial products, especially working capital and term loans, and the agricultural sector.Ability to conduct credit assessments and understand legal requirements.A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Agriculture, or a related field is often preferred.Experience in sales or a related field is beneficial, especially for senior roles.Strong understanding of local language is often an advantage.Skills Required
