Key Responsibilities :
1. Patient Care & Management
- Manage critically ill patients with multi-organ failure, sepsis, trauma, respiratory failure, cardiac emergencies, and post-operative complications.
- Provide ventilator management including invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
- Use advanced monitoring techniques : arterial lines, central venous pressure (CVP), pulmonary artery catheterization (if applicable).
- Initiate and manage renal replacement therapies (CRRT, HD) as needed.
- Oversee sedation, analgesia, and nutritional support in ICU patients.
2. Emergency Response
Respond to code blue and rapid response team calls hospital-wide.Stabilize and manage acute emergencies in ICU and other hospital areas.3. Procedures
Perform ICU procedures including :Central venous catheterizationArterial line insertionEndotracheal intubation and extubationChest tube insertionLumbar puncture, paracentesis, thoracentesis4. Team Collaboration
Coordinate with other specialties (cardiology, neurology, pulmonology, surgery) for comprehensive care.Supervise junior residents, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other ICU staff.5. Teaching & Research (If Applicable)
Participate in training residents and medical students in critical care medicine.Engage in academic activities : case discussions, journal clubs, CME sessions.Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement, and research projects.6. Documentation & Quality Compliance
Maintain accurate ICU records including daily progress notes, procedure logs, ventilator charts.Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and ICU safety guidelines.Participate in mortality and morbidity reviews and quality assurance programs.Qualifications & Experience :
For Senior Resident :MD / DNB in Critical Care Medicine or Anesthesia / Pulmonary Medicine / Internal Medicine with critical care trainingValid registration with NMC / State Medical Council0–3 years post-PG experience preferredFor Attending Consultant :MD / DNB with 3–5+ years experience in ICU and critical care medicineExpertise in ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and ICU proceduresFellowship or certification in critical care medicine is an advantageSkills & Competencies :
Advanced knowledge of critical care protocols and patient managementProficient in mechanical ventilation and invasive monitoringAbility to perform bedside ICU procedures confidentlyLeadership and team coordination skillsStrong communication skills for interacting with patients' families and clinical teamsSkills Required
