Water Supply Designer is responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the creation of potable water systems. Key duties include conducting site assessments, developing detailed plans using specialized software, performing hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, and ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and regulations. They also collaborate with project managers and other professionals, prepare technical reports, and may be involved in construction oversight and public consultations.
Key responsibilities
System design : Create and analyze water supply networks, treatment plants, and pumping stations, from residential systems to large-scale infrastructure.
Technical analysis : Perform detailed hydraulic and hydrologic modeling using software like HEC-RAS or SWMM to optimize performance, assess risks, and predict system behavior.
Project management : Develop project plans, manage budgets and timelines, and oversee construction to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Documentation : Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and detailed drawings and specifications.
Compliance : Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
Site work : Conduct site assessments and investigations to gather data and monitor project progress on-site.
Collaboration : Work with various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, government agencies, and other engineers, to ensure project goals are met.
