Senior Mechanical & Vacuum Engineer

We're building India's first commercial Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with a Schottky FEG - designed and manufactured in-house. If you want to own the mechanical, vacuum, and mechatronics of a flagship scientific / semiconductor instrument, this is your role.

Q. What will I build?

You will be responsible for the core mechanical and vacuum architecture of the SEM :

• Design the column and vacuum chamber - flanges, ports, feedthroughs, mounts, and interfaces between subsystems.
• Design vacuum systems with a focus on chamber, pumping, valves, seals, gauges, and bakeout.
• Develop in-vacuum mechanisms with a focus on actuators, alignments, sample handling. Optimize for low outgassing, reliability, and serviceability.
• Run the full iteration loop : concept to CAD to fabrication to assembly to testing.
• Validate vacuum leaks, motion tests, alignment, stability, and tweak the hardware based on in-house experiments.
• Work with electron optics, electrical, and software teams so the whole instrument behaves like one coherent machine.
