Assistant Technical Manager

This role is crucial to managing and supporting regional technical activities in Chennai and its outskirts (excluding Coimbatore). With an increasing number of projects (currently over 35), the position ensures efficient technical execution, stakeholder engagement, and contractor development, contributing directly to business growth and market differentiation through technical excellence.

About the Role :

Managing 25+ technical projects across the region, including Drywall and Specified Projects. Delivering timely, high-quality technical support to internal teams and external customers. Developing and nurturing a strong pool of capable contractors. Ensuring successful project execution, site certifications, and technical engagements. Tracking market trends and contributing insights to support strategic initiatives and market share growth.

Responsibilities : Project Management :

Manage approx. 25 projects (direct and indirect), including key Drywall Projects, outstation projects, and site certifications.

Contractor Engagements :

Collaborate with 15+ mid-size contractors and 15 project managers for technical training, execution, and quality assurance.

Technical Services :

Provide support through Field Visits, Site Certifications, Mock-ups, Customer Presentations, Complaint Handling, and Technical Query Resolution.

Capability Development :

Conduct onsite / offsite training modules to build a skilled workforce across various installer categories.

Market & Business Support :

Track market dynamics, anticipate changes, and implement innovative solutions and technologies to differentiate and grow the Gypsum business in the region.

Qualifications :

Educational Qualification :

B.E. / B.Tech – Civil / Mechanical / relevant technical background.

Experience :

4–6 years in Technical Services, Project Execution, or Technical Sales Support preferably in building materials, construction, or gypsum-related industries.

Required Skills

Deep understanding of drywall systems and gypsum-based solutions.

Ability to manage multiple projects and contractors efficiently.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with Sales, Key Accounts, and customers.

Hands-on approach with a problem-solving mindset and customer-first attitude.

A passion for technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Preferred Skills

Experience in handling contractors and project managers.

Exposure to drywall or interior construction systems.

Proficient in handling customer complaints and technical demonstrations.

Ability to train and develop external stakeholders.
