Role Summary & Key Objectives

We are seeking an experienced Ecommerce Development Lead to head our ecommerce technology initiatives, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing digital commerce platforms. This role will involve leading a team of developers, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, and driving end-to-end delivery of ecommerce solutions that align with business objectives. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership and problem-solving skills to deliver seamless online experiences for our customers.

Core Responsibilities

Solution Design & Development Architect, design, and oversee development of ecommerce platforms (Magento, Shopify, WooCommerce, Hybris, or custom solutions) ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and guide a team of developers; establish coding standards, conduct code reviews, and foster continuous learning.
Project Delivery Manage end-to-end delivery of ecommerce projects, ensuring timely releases, quality, and alignment with business requirements.
Integration & Optimization Implement third-party integrations (payment gateways, ERP, CRM, logistics, marketing tools) and optimize system performance.
Stakeholder Collaboration Work closely with product managers, UI / UX designers, QA, and business teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Innovation & Best Practices Stay updated with ecommerce technology trends, propose improvements, and ensure adoption of best practices in development and DevOps.
Quality & Compliance Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and data privacy standards while delivering exceptional user experience.

Must-Have Skills

Technical :

Strong expertise in ecommerce platforms (Magento 2.x, Shopify Plus, WooCommerce, Hybris, or custom-built solutions).

Proficiency in PHP, Node.js, React / Angular, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.

Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP) and CI / CD pipelines.

Strong understanding of databases (MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL) and caching mechanisms.

Knowledge of performance tuning, security protocols, and SEO-friendly development practices.

Soft Skills :

Proven leadership and people management skills.

Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Good-to-Have Skills

Exposure to headless commerce and progressive web apps (PWA).

Experience with AI / ML-based personalization, chatbots, and recommendation engines.

Knowledge of order management systems (OMS) and ERP / CRM integrations.

Familiarity with DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins).

Understanding of Agile / Scrum practices and JIRA / Confluence.

Experience Requirements

8 12 years of overall experience in software development.

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in ecommerce platform development & customization.

At least 3 years in a leadership / architect role managing teams and project deliveries.

KPIs / Success Metrics

Delivery Excellence : On-time delivery of ecommerce projects / releases with minimal defects.

Platform Performance : Achieving defined benchmarks for website uptime, load speed, and transaction success rates.

Customer Experience : Improvement in user engagement, cart conversion, and checkout success rates.

Team Productivity : Enhanced team efficiency, adherence to coding standards, and low defect leakage.

Innovation Index : Number of successful enhancements, automation, or innovative solutions implemented.

Stakeholder Satisfaction : Positive feedback from business, clients, and cross-functional teams.
