Primary title : Area Sales Manager

About The Opportunity

Industry : Sales & Distribution — We operate in the field-sales driven Sales & Distribution sector delivering products and services across India through direct retail, distributor and channel-partner networks. This on-site role focuses on territory growth, execution excellence, and market-share expansion through structured route-to-market strategies.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Own a defined sales territory : drive revenue growth, achieve monthly / quarterly targets, and expand market share through disciplined field execution.
  • Build and manage distributor and channel partner relationships—onboard, train, and enable partners to execute promotions, merchandising, and sales plans.
  • Convert key accounts and high-potential retail outlets through targeted selling, product demonstrations, and promotional execution.
  • Use CRM to track leads, pipeline, and sales activities; prepare accurate sales forecasts and report weekly performance against KPIs.
  • Implement trade activation plans—merchandising, pricing, and in-store visibility—to improve sell-through and reduce stock-outs.
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends; provide actionable insights to marketing and regional leadership to refine go-to-market strategy.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in territory or field sales within India
  • Strong track record in distributor / channel management and key account acquisition
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and sales reporting (experience with Salesforce preferred)
  • Ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory; valid driving license
  • Results-driven approach with demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets
  • Preferred

  • Experience in FMCG, Consumer Durables, Pharma, or Retail distribution
  • MBA or advanced qualification in Sales / Marketing
  • Experience managing P&L or larger regional sales responsibilities
