Position Overview
Engineering Manager who combines strong system design expertise with exceptional people management skills to lead our healthcare claims processing engineering teams. This role requires deep technical knowledge of distributed systems and the ability to build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership :
Design and architect scalable healthcare claims processing systems handling millions of transactions
Lead system design reviews and technical decision-making for complex healthcare workflows
Ensure system reliability, performance, and security standards meet healthcare compliance requirements (HIPAA, GDPR)
Drive technical strategy for claims adjudication, provider networks, and member management systems
Collaborate with architects on system integration patterns and data flow optimization
People Management :
Build, lead, and mentor a team of software engineers across multiple product areas
Conduct regular 1 : 1s, performance reviews, and career development planning
Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence
Recruit top engineering talent and build diverse, inclusive teams
Manage team capacity, sprint planning, and delivery commitments
Cross-functional Collaboration :
Partner closely with Product, Data, and Operations teams on feature planning and delivery
Translate business requirements into technical specifications and implementation roadmaps
Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
Drive engineering best practices, code quality, and delivery processes
Required Qualifications
6+ years of software engineering experience with 1+ years in engineering management
Strong system design experience with distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures
Hand-on coding experience -
Experience with real-time processing systems and high-volume transaction processing
Track record of successful large-scale system migrations or platform modernizations
Proven track record of scaling engineering teams and managing technical talent
Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS / Azure), databases, and modern engineering practices
Experience with agile methodologies and continuous integration / deployment
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with healthcare standards (HL7, FHIR)
Knowledge of healthcare claims workflows and adjudication processes
Experience with healthcare systems, claims processing, or similar regulated industries preferred
