Job descriptionTeam Leadership & Strategy : Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing DBRE team focused on automation, reliability, and continuous improvement. Database Operations & Reliability : Ensure uptime, performance, and scalability of MongoDB, MySQL, and Elasticsearch clusters across multiple regions and environments. Automation & Engineering : Drive automation for database provisioning, scaling, backups, upgrades, and recovery using Go or Python. Promote Infrastructure as Code and self-service database management. Monitoring & Incident Response : Implement automated monitoring, alerting, and self-healing mechanisms. Lead major incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortem reviews. Collaboration : Work closely with SRE, CloudOps, Security, and development teams to enhance database reliability and support new feature rollouts. Best Practices & Documentation : Define DBRE best practices, document automation workflows, and create operational runbooks. Capacity & Cost Management : Forecast database growth, manage capacity planning, and optimize costs. Security & Compliance : Ensure robust database security, compliance, and data protection measures. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in Database Engineering, DBRE, or SRE roles, including at least 3 years in technical leadership or management. Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB, MySQL, and Elasticsearch (Elasticsearch experience is a plus). Proficiency in Go or Python for automation, tooling, and database lifecycle management. Experience automating database provisioning, scaling, patching, and self-healing systems. Expertise in managing highly available and scalable database clusters — including replication, sharding, backup / restore, and performance tuning. Strong understanding of database security, access control, and compliance practices. Excellent leadership, incident management, and communication skills. Proven track record of hiring, mentoring, and developing high-performing technical teams. Database Automation & Reliability – Deep experience managing and automating MongoDB, MySQL, and Elasticsearch operations. Programming & Automation – Proficiency in Go or Python for building database automation frameworks and self-healing systems. Leadership in DBRE / SRE – Strong ability to lead, mentor, and scale a high-impact database reliability team focused on performance and resilience
