Position : Mechanical Engineer – RFQ Support
Work Location : Bangalore OR Mysore
Job Summary :
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer – RFQ Support to join our engineering team. This role focuses on evaluating customer-supplied data such as mechanical drawings, specifications, and BOMs to ensure manufacturability, compliance, and accuracy. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sourcing, quality, and suppliers, to ensure the successful validation and integration of mechanical components in system-level manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities :
- Review customer-provided mechanical drawings and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability.
- Perform detailed BOM scrubbing to validate the accuracy and completeness of mechanical part data.
- Maintain and manage data with respect to B2P (Board-to-Product) and B2S (Board-to-System) models.
- Validate and map Make and Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) data against customer BOMs and internal databases.
- Ensure that all listed mechanical components meet customer-specific material, mechanical, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with Sourcing and Supply Chain Management (SCM) teams to identify approved manufacturers, alternate sources, or equivalent components.
- Identify and highlight discrepancies in BOMs or part data, and support resolution through change management processes or customer communication.
- Support Quality Assurance and Incoming Quality Control (IQC) teams in resolving part mismatches or mechanical non-conformities.
- Engage with multiple customers to align on part specifications, technical details, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal engineering teams to verify part specifications, approvals, and datasheets.
- Document all BOM validation activities , changes, and communications accurately and in a timely manner.
- Calculate and provide inputs for Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) and Cycle Time (CT) estimations for system integration.
- Identify critical processes and requirements for Work Instructions relevant to mechanical parts and assemblies
Qualifications :
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.Proven experience in BOM validation , MPN mapping , and mechanical component review in an EMS or electronics manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of mechanical drawings , GD&T , and interpreting technical specifications.Familiarity with Make-MPN validation , supplier databases, and material compliance standards (e.g., RoHS, REACH).Working knowledge of multi-level (tree-level) BOM structures .Good understanding of material specifications , surface finishes , and coating processes .Proficient in Microsoft Excel , MS Office , and basic CAD viewers (e.g., eDrawings, SolidWorks Viewer).Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.Knowledge of industry standards such as AS9000 , ISO 9001 , IPC , RoHS , and REACH is preferred.Preferred Skills :
Experience working in high-mix, low-to-medium volume EMS environments.Exposure to customer interactions in a technical support or RFQ engineering role.Familiarity with ERP / MRP tools for BOM and part data management.Requirements
