Job Description : -
Tool Design is designing, developing, and implementing tools and fixtures to support manufacturing processes. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and maintenance, to ensure efficient and effective tooling solutions that enhance productivity and maintain high standards of quality.
Essential Qualification :
B.E (Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering) from a reputed university
Work Experience :
Experience in Tool design & NC Programming for 5 to 7 years.
Experience in Aerospace Industry
Tool Knowledge
CATIA V5 7 to 8 yrs
CATIA Machining Unigraphics Machining or Master CAM
Requirements (Tool design) :
Design of Aerospace Tools like Assembly Jigs, GHE / GSE Equipment, Drill Plates, Machining Fixtures
Ability to modify the Aerospace Tooling as per Customer Requirements
Should have 12 to 15 years’ Experience in CAD on CATIA V5 and preferable experience in Unigraphics. Experience in Solid Modelling, Surface Design, Generative and Interactive Drafting and Assembly Modelling as per Airbus standards
Collaborate with product design, production, and quality teams to understand requirements and provide optimized tooling solutions.
Should be able to complete 3D Finish Design for Rough Concept supplied and Experience in Creation of Tool Drawings for Weldments, Assembly Drawing and Detail drawing as per Airbus standards
Conduct feasibility studies, cost analysis, for new tooling projects.
Should have Experience in Designing Industrial Automation knowledge for Tooling. Should know the Modern Tool Design Methods. General knowledge of CAM (Computer aided Manufacturing).
Good understanding in Tool Design reviews process.
Experience in Welding design and Symbols. Knowledge in Steel and Aluminum Welding Codes( IS standard)
Experience in creating Tool usage manuals, Quality & inspection Procedures & Methods
Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
Good Understanding in Tool Manufacturing Process like Machining, Sheet metal
Should have knowledge in Tool Material selection.
Should have Knowledge in GD&T (ASME &ISO)
Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is preferred.
Familiarity with material selection and cost optimization.
General Team Leading Skills & Customer Interaction :
Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and advanced manufacturing techniques.
Candidate should be conversant with Assembly Processes, Customer Supplier Knowledge, Design / Produce Processes, Engineering Process Improvement Method, Manufacturing Methods, Product Structure & Operational Analysis.
Develops and maintains technical relationships / partnerships with customers, suppliers, peers, partners and team members to develop collaborative plans and execute on projects
Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes,
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Qualification :
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Tool Design, or related field.
12–15 years of experience in tool design and manufacturing engineering.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials (sheet metal, machining, composites, etc.).
Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, NX) and GD&T principles.
Proven experience in customer-facing roles and technical solutioning.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
