Department Overview

The Unified Communications team has a mission to become the leader in creating a highly scalable software platform and communication applications for first responders and industrial workgroups. Our customers rely on these solutions to run their critical business operations in the public safety, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors. Every single day, we are shaping the future of mobile workgroup solutions for public safety and industrial users worldwide leveraging Motorola's rich heritage in this space. Our solutions include broadband Push to Talk (PTT), multimedia messaging, location based collaboration, video streaming with full interoperability with land mobile radio (LMR) systems. The products include client apps on Android, iOS, and Windows. Our backend software can be deployed On-Prem, in private data centers, or in a public cloud infrastructure.

Job Description

This position is critical to the successful execution of Motorola Solutions' strategic objectives, directly impacting the company's ability to innovate, deliver high-quality products and services, and maintain its competitive edge. The role involves comprehensive management of product and service development and implementation, from initial concept through to successful market launch and post-launch evaluation.

Key Responsibilities and Impact :

End-to-End Project Ownership : The incumbent is responsible for the complete lifecycle management of projects, encompassing planning, execution, monitoring, and closure. This includes defining project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria, as well as managing associated risks and dependencies. The ability to seamlessly transition projects, often to ongoing operational teams, is crucial for sustained product and service efficacy.

Cross-functional Leadership and Coordination : A core function of this role is to lead and coordinate diverse departmental and cross-functional teams. This requires exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to foster collaboration and ensure alignment among stakeholders from engineering, marketing, sales, operations, and other relevant departments. The effective integration of these teams is paramount to delivering cohesive and market-ready solutions.

Performance Tracking and Evaluation : The position necessitates rigorous tracking and evaluation of project performance against established metrics. This includes monitoring progress, identifying deviations from the plan, and implementing corrective actions to ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and adhere to predefined quality standards. Regular reporting and transparent communication of project status to senior leadership and stakeholders are essential for informed decision-making.

Quality Assurance and Methodological Adherence : A commitment to quality is embedded in this role, with a strong emphasis on utilizing robust methodologies such as Six Sigma and established project management frameworks. This ensures that projects are executed with maximum effectiveness, minimizing defects, optimizing processes, and consistently delivering high-quality products and services that meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication : Active participation in project review and status meetings is a key responsibility, enabling effective communication of project progress, challenges, and proposed solutions. This proactive communication strategy ensures that all relevant parties are informed, fostering transparency and facilitating timely resolution of issues.

Team Motivation and Performance Optimization : The ability to motivate and inspire project teams is vital for optimal performance. Basic Requirements

Key Responsibilities :

Project Lifecycle Management : Oversee projects from inception to completion or transition, including comprehensive project plan development, performance tracking, and evaluation.

Stakeholder Communication : Represent assigned programs in review and status meetings for senior leaders and executives.

Issue Resolution & Risk Management : Utilize project management tools (schedule, change order, risk assessment, action item log) to analyze complex issues, develop resolutions, and establish and track risk mitigation plans with key stakeholders.

Program Goal Attainment : Implement and manage changes and interventions to ensure program goals are achieved.

Team Leadership : Motivate and influence team members to ensure optimal program performance.

Additional Qualified Skills :

Software Program Launch Expertise : Proven experience launching end-to-end software programs.

Analytical & Creative Problem Solving : Ability to work on complex issues requiring deep analytical skills and creativity.

Technical Proficiency : Proficient in Google Applications (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Drive).

Project Management Certifications : PMP certification, Certified SCRUM master, and / or other project management certifications are preferred.

Agile Competencies : Demonstrated proficiency in using various Agile methodologies for project management.

Cross-functional Collaboration : Ability to work effectively with all organizational levels, from team members to senior leaders.

Change Management : Strong command of change management issues and methodologies.
