Lead Engineer – Bogie Brake will play the key role of owning the technical responsibility of friction brakes and its architecture, application, engineering and development by demonstrating a strong understanding of existing technology and utilizes to meet customer specifications.
Essential Responsibilities
- Interdependently lead the application, engineering and development of friction Brakes (tread brake unit / disc brake system) partnering with TEC / PM / sourcing / manufacturing / validation / services for locomotives / metros / wagons following the robust Wabtec Engineering Processes. Take full ownership of the product lifecycle from proposal to operation.
- Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory and Wabtec specifications.
- Must lead multiple projects by adhering to Wabtec processes while meeting business standards and program / product requirements.
- Support the field validation / commissioning / reliability resolution with sense of urgency.
- Influence the technical direction for Bogie Brake to maximize the business impact.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated and utilize same for future reference, team training etc.
- Inspires others to take risks by taking risks her / himself to continually learn.
- Represents the business in technical matters.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelors / Master's degree in mechanical / production / structural / Automotive Engineering with minimum 5 of engineering experience.Desired Characteristics
Deep technical understanding and capabilities in friction brake domain and related tools like stopping distance, thermal performance, validation plan, life cycle.Experience on component packaging and installation assessment. Preferably in friction brake area using the tools like NX, Catia.Proven record on Engineering / execution / validation / field support.Must have interpersonal skills to interface effectively with cross functional teams to drive the decisionsMust have experience with kinematics of friction brakes, thermo-mechanical interactions, casting, fabrication, bearings selection, bolted joints, GD&T, friction brake, electric / pneumatic interface understanding.Good understanding of rail standards such as AAR, EN, RGS, UIC, APTA, IR etc.Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong technical leadership skills. Ability to work independently. Strong problem-solving skills.
