We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team, focusing on power plant projects. This role requires extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, with a focus on system design, piping, and equipment. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert capable of leading projects, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring all deliverables meet high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- System Design : Define system requirements, instrumentation, and control logic. Develop System Design Notes, including P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) with supporting calculations.
- Component Sizing & Selection : Perform hydraulic calculations and select appropriate pumps, pipes, valves, and safety valves. You should have knowledge of API 520 / 521 / 526 for PSV sizing and data sheets.
- Project Coordination : Coordinate project design assignments and work closely with design teams. Review detailed pipe routing to ensure it conforms to design requirements.
- Equipment & Vendor Management : Develop equipment specifications, review vendor drawings, and administer equipment contracts.
- Quality Assurance : Prepare and review key deliverables like Process Flow Diagrams, heat and mass balances, and valve lists . Adhere to quality requirements and standard work procedures.
- Team Leadership : Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to less-experienced staff members.
- Client & Stakeholder Relations : Regularly meet with and correspond with clients and other external personnel.
Required Qualifications
Education : A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program.Experience : A minimum of 6-10 years of experience with exposure to piping design, pump selection, rotating equipment, and process design.Technical Skills :Experience with fossil generation plant design is preferred.Proficiency in software such as AFT Arrow, AFT Fathom, SmartPlant P&ID, SmartPlant Review, and Navisworks is a plus.Familiarity with industry codes and standards, including ASME B31.1, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections I and VIII .Communication & Problem-Solving : Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Additional Experience : Previous consulting engineering experience and field construction / commissioning experience are an added advantage.Skills Required
