About the Role
The Head of Credit will lead credit, underwriting, and portfolio risk management for the organization. The role is responsible for defining credit frameworks, ensuring asset quality, and enabling business growth through prudent credit practices.
This leader will manage zonal and regional credit teams, partner with Business, Collections, and Operations, and maintain strong governance, compliance, and portfolio health across the network.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement credit policy, product programs, and delegation frameworks.
- Ensure consistent credit decisions and documentation standards across locations.
- Drive portfolio quality targets (PAR, NPA, Early Mortality) through proactive monitoring and controls.
- Oversee valuation, legal, and technical checks;
ensure adherence to risk and regulatory norms.
Lead internal / external audits and ensure timely closure of observations.Build and mentor a high-performance credit team with strong underwriting discipline.Partner with business leadership to balance growth objectives with portfolio risk appetite.Leverage data analytics and market insights to refine credit strategy and enable product innovation.Candidate Profile
15–20+ years’ experience in secured retail lending (LAP, Affordable Housing, or SME Secured).Proven success leading regional / national credit teams in NBFC / HFC / Bank setups.Expertise in cash-flow based underwriting for self-employed / informal segments.Strong analytical, governance, and stakeholder management skills.Graduate / Postgraduate in Commerce, Finance, or Business;CA / MBA (Finance) preferred.
Knowledge of at least one Southern language (Tamil / Telugu / Kannada) preferred.
