▷ Urgent : Head of Engineering

Virbhu India Pvt Ltd, a leading solid state power conversion company located at Vadodara (Gujarat), A wholly owned subsidiary of AK Power Solutions () (USA), operating in the field of power electronics, has an immediate opening for a Head of Technical / development team to lead development of Mega Watt scale converters using SiC devices and IGBT devise for DC fast Charging of trucks and buses , solar power generation , Battery energy storage systems, electrolytic deposition , electrolyzes to produce Hydrogen fuel and other applications .

The US parent company , AK power Solutions sells IPM (integrated power modules) for fast DC charging currently in USA and is led by an IIT graduate. In addition to AK , he also leads VTC , the largest power transformer manufacturer in USA.

Position : a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the design, development, and testing of power electronic systems for various applications, such as Vehicle Charging Infrastructure and renewable energy. This role involves leading a team of engineers, managing projects, fostering innovation with new technologies like SiC / Si-IGBT semiconductors, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with other departments and external partners to bring products from concept to manufacturing. You will have the opportunity to expand a small team in place rapidly to meet market specs and provide a working model.

The company plans to build several prototypes for different application, develop design and specifications for third party manufacturers. You will develop the vendor and assure process and product quality.

Job Description :

• Leadership of the team
• Define and lead the R&D strategy to develop product meeting application requirements and specifications and achieve UL certification .
• Develop a manufacturing roadmap to support the execution of the product roadmap.
• Oversee design, development, and testing of power electronic circuits, converters, inverters, controls, software and integrated systems.
• Lead the creation of BOMs, test specifications, and technical documentation, and mfg documentation
• Strong working knowledge of power-electronics selection and layout for Thyristors, IGBT and Sic-MOSFET based switching devices and circuits.
• Knowledge of mitigation of EMI / EMC issues with power electronics circuits desired.
• Build, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary R&D team including electronics / Electrical engineers, Embedded Software / Hardware developers, and test engineers.
• Project Management :
• Manage R&D project portfolios including budgeting, resource allocation, timelines, and risk management.
• Ensure timely delivery of prototypes, validation, and product transfer to manufacturing.
• Cross-functional Collaboration :
• Collaborate with Product Management, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure product feasibility, manufacturability, and quality standards.
• Engage with external partners, academia, and technology vendors to leverage new knowledge and partnerships.
