Position : IP Manager (Inpatient Services)
Department : Operations / Patient Services
Reports To : Head – Operations / General Manager – Operations
Role Overview :
The IP Manager is responsible for overseeing all inpatient operations , ensuring smooth patient admission-to-discharge flow, optimizing patient experience, coordinating with clinical and non-clinical teams, and maintaining the highest standards of service quality and operational efficiency within the hospital’s inpatient department.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Patient Admission & Discharge Management
- Supervise the entire inpatient process — admission, transfer, and discharge.
- Ensure timely and accurate admission documentation , bed allotment, and patient registration.
- Coordinate with doctors, billing, and nursing teams to ensure smooth discharge and proper final bill closure.
2. Coordination & Communication
Act as a liaison between patients, consultants, and hospital departments to resolve queries and service gaps.Coordinate with Housekeeping, F&B, Nursing, Pharmacy, Billing, and Operations to deliver seamless inpatient services.Attend and facilitate daily clinical and administrative meetings to address inpatient issues.3. Quality & Patient Experience
Monitor patient satisfaction levels through regular rounds and feedback.Implement service improvement initiatives based on feedback and audit findings.Ensure compliance with NABH / JCI standards and hospital protocols in inpatient areas.4. Staff Supervision & Training
Supervise IP executives, floor coordinators, and ward administrators.Conduct training sessions on patient handling, communication, and process adherence.Ensure staff coverage and roster management for all inpatient floors.5. Billing & Financial Coordination
Coordinate closely with the billing and insurance teams for estimate approvals, package monitoring, and bill clarifications.Ensure zero revenue leakage and proper documentation of inpatient billing and packages.6. Reporting & Performance Monitoring
Track and report key operational metrics — bed occupancy, ALOS (Average Length of Stay), discharge TAT , and patient complaints.Submit periodic MIS reports to management and identify areas for process improvement.Desired Qualifications & Experience :
Graduate / Postgraduate in Hospital Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field .8–12 years of experience in hospital operations, with at least 3–5 years in inpatient management in a multispecialty setup.Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Good understanding of hospital billing, insurance, and clinical coordination processes.Proficient in hospital information systems (HIS / EMR).Key Skills :
