About the Role :
The Principal Loan Closer I will be responsible for managing and executing loan closing and settlement processes across syndicated loan transactions. This position requires strong expertise in Loan Syndication, Trade Settlement, and the Loan IQ platform. The role involves working collaboratively with global teams to ensure operational accuracy, compliance, and timely execution of all loan trade settlements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Loan Closing and Settlement Operations :
- Manage the end-to-end closing process for syndicated loan transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to deadlines.
- Execute loan trade settlements using platforms such as Loan IQ, ClearPar, SyndTrak, and Debt Domain.
- Process and monitor wire transfers through systems like FED, CHIPS, and SWIFT, ensuring seamless transaction execution.
- Reconcile trade discrepancies, verify documentation, and maintain accurate records in accordance with internal controls and regulatory standards.
- Ensure that all trades comply with LSTA and LMA market conventions and guidelines.
Data Management and Analysis :
Analyze and manage large financial datasets to identify trends, discrepancies, and performance metrics.Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data analysis to improve settlement accuracy and efficiency.Maintain robust documentation and audit trails to support compliance and quality assurance.Collaboration and Coordination :
Work closely with global internal teams, including operations, finance, compliance, and client relationship management, to coordinate loan closings and settlements.Communicate effectively with external agents, lenders, and counterparties to resolve trade-related issues.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing settlement workflows and enhancing operational efficiency.Client Service and Communication :
Deliver exceptional client service through timely updates, proactive issue resolution, and professional communication.Collaborate with client stakeholders to understand requirements, manage expectations, and ensure smooth settlement execution.Present insights, updates, and performance reports to peers and management as required.Process Improvement and Compliance :
Identify opportunities for process enhancement and automation to improve accuracy and turnaround times.Adhere strictly to all internal policies, compliance guidelines, and audit standards.Support training and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the team to build process excellence.Key Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
Experience : Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in loan closing, syndicated loan operations, or trade settlement within a financial services or banking environment.
Technical Skills :
Strong hands-on experience with Loan IQ (mandatory).Familiarity with ClearPar, SyndTrak, and Debt Domain preferred.In-depth understanding of Loan Syndication, Trade Settlement procedures, and Syndicated Debt Market (LSTA and LMA).Excellent understanding of wire transfer systems (FED, CHIPS, SWIFT).Analytical and Operational Skills :
High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.Strong analytical ability to handle large datasets and derive meaningful conclusions.Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity.Soft Skills :
