Job Description
- High Level of OTIF Delivery
- Consistently meet or exceed delivery schedules and deadlines, ensuring complete and accurate order fulfillment.
- Achieve on-time delivery by effectively controlling dispatches
- Develop systems to meet customer and grade-specific requirements
- Ensure loading of materials in line with customer and grade-specific needs
- Cost Management & Logistics Planning
- Ensure cost-effective sourcing of transportation and ocean freight while maintaining high service levels and minimizing lead times.
- Select, analyze, and appoint freight vendors (trucking companies, CHAs, freight forwarders, and shipping lines) for each destination to minimize costs through better negotiation
- Decide route and shipping company for new customers to reduce freight cost and lead time
- Based on customer mix, domestic / export sales, and state-wise sales trends, identify schemes to minimize costs related to import duties, export incentives, VAT, and CST
- Collaborate with the procurement team to achieve savings through state-wise source identification for VAT, country-wise sourcing for customs duties, and utilization of export incentive schemes
- Plan and coordinate transportation activities, including carrier selection, route optimization, and mode selection
- Drive cost savings through negotiations and multimodal optimization (e.g., using ICD / alternate ports as entry / exit gateways)
- Outbound Inventory Management
- Ensure safe, efficient, and timely warehousing and dispatch of outgoing materials.
- Supervise warehouse operations
- Ensure safe storage and retrieval of goods
- Review slow-moving materials and drive timely disposal
- Maintain MHE in good condition for smooth material movement
- Quality Management
- Oversee packaging and handling processes to maintain product quality and prevent damage during transportation.
- Implement quality control checks to avoid errors in order processing
- Develop efficient picking and packing processes to prevent shipment discrepancies
- Maintain accurate and complete shipment documentation, including packing lists, invoices, and shipping labels
- Address customer concerns or complaints related to logistics and implement timely improvement plans
Skills & Competencies
