Role Description
This is a full-time remote / hybrid role for a Logistics Coordinator. We are seeking OTR & Drayage Expert who will oversee all aspects of domestic trucking and container drayage operations for the company’s recycling shipments. This includes managing relationships with carriers, optimizing freight routes, coordinating port pickups / deliveries, and ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation of recyclable materials.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of port logistics, container management, and the U.S. trucking & Freight market, especially related to scrap, commodities, or bulk materials.
Key Responsbilities
- Manage daily OTR (over-the-road) and drayage operations for inbound and outbound shipments of recyclable materials.
- Coordinate container pickups, deliveries, and returns between ports, yards, suppliers, and customers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with trucking companies, drayage providers, and freight brokers.
- Negotiate freight rates and secure carrier capacity in line with cost and service objectives.
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery and compliance with schedules.
- Work closely with ports, terminals, and warehouses to resolve operational issues and avoid demurrage, detention, or storage penalties.
- Oversee dispatching, load scheduling, and load documentation for all OTR movements.
- Collaborate with international logistics, trading, and operations teams to support export / import shipping requirements.
- Maintain accurate freight cost records and provide weekly and monthly logistics performance reports.
- Implement and support strategies to improve logistics efficiency and sustainability in domestic transportation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.5+ years of experience in U.S. domestic logistics, with a strong focus on OTR trucking and port drayage.Experience in the recycling, commodities, or bulk trading industry preferred.Proven track record of managing carrier networks and negotiating competitive freight rates.Working knowledge of port and terminal operations, including container booking and scheduling.Organizational and multitasking skills to manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environmentSkills :
In-depth understanding of U.S. trucking regulations, ELD compliance, and safety standards.Familiarity with port systems and drayage management platforms (e.g., PortPro, CargoWise, or similar).Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and logistics management software.Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a hybrid / remote environment.
