Fabrication Engineer

Job descriptionOversee fabrication processes including cutting, bending, stamping, welding, finishing. Collaborate with shop floor teams to resolve issues. Define tooling, jigs, fixtures, and process parameters. Ensure compliance with IS / ASTM / ISO standards. Develop inspection plans and quality criteria. Conduct tolerance stack-up, FMEA, RCA. Evaluate and qualify fabrication vendors. Review vendor capabilities, costing, and negotiate. Lead NPD and engineering projects. Collaborate with R&D, supply chain, production, and quality teams. Expertise in sheet metal design and fabrication. Strong CAD proficiency. Knowledge of GD&T, materials, tooling, and processes. Excellent communication and leadership. Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Minimum 15 years’ experience in sheet metal design or metal fabrication. Experience with ISO systems, PDM / PLM, FEA tools. Exposure to lean manufacturing or Six Sigma.

Position Overview
The Metal Fabrication / Sheet Metal Design Engineer will be responsible for leading end-to-end design, development, and fabrication of sheet metal components, assemblies, and structures. The role demands strong technical expertise in sheet metal engineering, advanced CAD proficiency, fabrication processes, and cross-functional collaboration with production, quality, vendors, and R&D teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Lead design of sheet metal components, enclosures, frames, brackets, and assemblies.
- Develop 3D models, 2D drawings, GD&T, BOMs, and specifications.
- Perform sheet metal design calculations.
- Drive DFM, DFA, DFS for manufacturability and cost optimization.
