Job Responsibilities
The Area Sales Manager for Tata Astrum is responsible for driving sales growth of Tata
Steel’s hot rolled steel sheets and coils in the assigned territory by acquiring new customers
across fabrication, automotive, machinery, and infrastructure segments, managing key
accounts and distributors, ensuring timely order fulfilment and collections, and executing
marketing initiatives to enhance brand presence. The role demands strong product
knowledge, market intelligence, customer relationship skills, and a results-driven approach
to achieve volume, value, and market share targets while strengthening Tata Astrum’s
leadership in the region.
Sales & Business Development
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for Tata Astrum products.
- Identify and develop new customers in automotive, fabrication, heavy machinery, yellow goods, and infrastructure segments.
- Increase market share by expanding the customer base and enhancing wallet share with existing customers.
Customer Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, decision-makers, and influencers.Understand customer requirements in terms of grades, sizes, packaging, and delivery schedules and coordinate accordingly.Channel & Distribution Management
Manage and support dealer / distributor networks for Tata Astrum Super retail sales.Conduct regular visits to channel partners to ensure visibility, resolve issues, and drive secondary sales.Market Intelligence & Strategy
Track competitor activities, market trends, and pricing strategies.Provide periodic market feedback to management for strategic decisions and inventory planning.Order Fulfilment & Coordination
Ensure timely order booking, dispatches, and delivery in coordination with SCM, plant, and logistics teams.Monitor outstanding payments and ensure collections are within stipulated credit norms.Promotional Activities
Plan and execute marketing initiatives such as fabricator meets, product demos, and customer engagement programs to enhance product awareness and brand recall.MIS & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of sales, pipeline, customer visits, and receivables.Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports for review with managementDesired Academic Qualifications
Graduate in Engineering (Mechanical / Metallurgy / Civil) preferred; or B.Com / B.Sc with MBA in Marketing / Sales.Desired Work Experience
3-5 years of sales experience in steel (HR / CR / structural) products, preferably handling industrial customers and channels.Key Performance IndicatorsAchievement of sales targets (volume and value).Increase in active customer base.Collection efficiency and days sales outstanding (DSO).Channel partner engagement score.Market share growth in assigned territory.
