Job description

What the role is :

Drive business development efforts to position Singapore as a preferred destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE).

Engage and build relationships with India-based corporates and associations to secure Singapore for business events and corporate group travel (such as incentive trips).

What you will be working on :

A. Business Development

  • Source, build, and maintain a strong pipeline of MICE leads to achieve specific MICE Visitor Night (VN) targets by engaging with corporate clients, incentive planners, and intermediaries through proactive business development activities, including sales calls, networking, and pitching for corporate meetings, incentive travel groups, and other business events.
  • Represent STB and Singapore at key industry events and platforms to promote Singapore’s MICE offerings, generate quality leads, and strengthen relationships with decision-makers.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key stakeholders in West and South India, serving as the primary MICE contact point for leads and accounts from this region, with flexibility to support other markets when required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all account activities, meetings, and interactions in the CRM system.
  • Guide clients through STB’s programmes and incentive offerings, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded;

this includes providingtimely advice and facilitation through these programmes and incentive offerings, as well as preparation and submission of internal proposals and applications for these programmes and incentive offerings for internal approvals

  • Collaborate with STB colleagues in Singapore and across India to deliver strategic projects, manage familiarisation trips, and implement promotional initiatives that highlight Singapore’s MICE strengths.
  • B. Market Intelligence

  • Gather and analyse market intelligence to enhance Singapore’s competitiveness as a MICE destination in the India market
  • Monitor and assess industry trends and developments within India’s MICE sector to support data-driven decision-making and identify emerging business opportunities
  • Identify and pursue partnership opportunities with industry associations, intermediaries, and event organisers to enhance Singapore’s brand presence and market presence
  • C. Others

  • Undertake additional workstreams or projects as required, based on operational and business needs.
  • What we are looking for :

  • Industry Experience : Relevant experience in MICE-related roles, minimum of 8 years of relevant experience for Manager position or 15 years of relevant experience for Senior Manager position. Experience in destination marketing will be a significant advantage.
  • Relationship Builder : Strong network within the MICE and weddings industry, with the creativity and vision to attract new business through innovative strategies.
  • Multitasker : Exceptional project management abilities, able to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to Detail : Highly organised, methodical, and results-oriented, with a keen focus on ensuring that no detail is overlooked.
  • Strong Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present and negotiate persuasively.
  • Proactive and Independent : A self-starter who takes initiative, but also knows when to seek senior input. You thrive in both independent and team-based environments.
  • Strategic Thinker : A big-picture thinker who constantly evaluates how to position Singapore for greater success in the competitive MICE landscape.
  • Analytical and Data-Driven : Proficiency in analysing data to spot trends, identify opportunities, and inform decision-making. Strong command of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Adaptable and Global : Comfortable working in a global, multicultural team across time zones and diverse cultural environments.
  • Willing to Travel : Flexibility to travel both domestically and internationally, and to work during evenings and weekends as required.
  • Additional Information :

  • Role Type : Independent contributor role, based in Mumbai.
  • Employment Contract : The appointment will be on a two-year contract. Subject to good performance and meeting expectations throughout the contract term, the officer may be considered for conversion to a permanent position thereafter.
  • Reporting Structure : For all business development and MICE-related activities, the officer will have a functional reporting line to the Area Director, STB New Delhi.
  • The officer will report to the Area Director, STB Mumbai, for administrative and office-related matters, as the position is based physically in Mumbai.
  • Travel : Domestic (pan-IN) and international travel (principally to Singapore) will be required.
