Position Overview :
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Server & Infrastructure Monitoring Support Engineer to join our IT Operations team. This is a Level 1 monitoring profile with exposure to initial troubleshooting tasks across server and infrastructure environments. This is not a full engineering role, but it provides a solid foundation for individuals looking to grow within server administration and infrastructure support functions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform Level 1 monitoring and initial troubleshooting for server and infrastructure components.
- Monitor system health using tools such as Nagios, identifying and escalating issues as needed.
- Respond to alerts, raise tickets, and track incidents using ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, Jira).
- Document incidents, routine checks, and responses accurately and thoroughly.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of Windows Server environments and Microsoft applications.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and infrastructure teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Maintain a strong understanding of server performance metrics, logs, and monitoring best practices.
- Support operations in a 24 / 5 rotational shift environment.
Required Qualifications & Experience :
Minimum 4 years of experience supporting server and infrastructure environmentsOR
A Technical Diploma / Degree in IT with 3+ years of relevant experience in proactive server support.Advanced knowledge of :
TCP / IP networkingWindows Operating Systems (2003, 2008, 2012)Certification : MCSE (2003 / 2008) Mandatory (Windows / Server specialization).Minimum 2 years of experience administering and monitoring with Nagios.Familiarity with ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Remedy).Working knowledge of :
PowerShell scriptingMicrosoft Application Suite troubleshootingBasic networking conceptsUnix / Linux environmentsVirtualization technologies (e.g., VMware)Cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure)Additional Skills & Attributes :
